Press Room - Hardee County Economic Development Council PRESS RELEASE: Peace River Electric Cooperative to Open Wauchula Headquarters Office Due to an ever increasing consumer base, the Peace River Electric Cooperative (PRECO) Board of Directors is moving toward building a new Headquarters facility in Wauchula to better serve its members. A formal groundbreaking ceremony will be held on property near PRECO’s current headquarters building, January 22, at 4:00 p.m. The new building will be built on Peace River’s 55 acre tract of land located on Florida Avenue between Knight and Metheny Roads. Future planned access to the new building will be from Florida Avenue. “All construction drawings have been completed and PRECO has awarded a contract to McCorry Construction to build the roughly 26,000 square-foot, two-story building,” said Bill Mulcay, CEO. “It will take about 11 months to complete the construction project.” The new facility is designed to provide for our space requirements for the next 15 years.” Peace River Electric Cooperative (PRECO), a Touchstone Energy® distribution electric cooperative headquartered in Wauchula, Florida, provides electric service and energy solutions to nearly 35,000 member/consumers in 10 Florida counties in central Florida: Brevard, DeSoto, Hardee, Highlands, Hillsborough, Indian River, Manatee, Osceola, Polk and Sarasota Counties.
